Edmonton Ice Castles

Wednesday evening our family went to the Ice Castles at Hawrelak Park. We arrived at 4:30pm, so we could start by seeing it in the daylight. It was pretty impressive!

This is a small part of the ice castle from the outside:

Once we were inside the castle, there was a fun ice slide:

Lots of areas to explore:

And lots of places to take pictures:

Zack was all about posing for lots of pictures!

These 5 had so much fun!

We planned our visit so that we would be there when it was daylight and then as it got dark. Once it was dark, the ice lit up with all kinds of colours! I definitely recommend seeing it in the daylight and in the dark. I liked it better when it was lighter out, you could see more detail, but when it was dark and all the coloured lights were on, it was cool too!

It was getting pretty dark, so I had to use my flash for these last few pictures:

On the way out, all lit up!

Manzanillo, Mexico

Michael and I just returned from an fantastic trip to Mexico. Kid free!! It was great to spend the whole week together alone. I'm very thankful that my parents looked after the boys while we were away! According to the boys, they had 'the best week ever!!' Quality time with Oma & Opa ;)

We stayed at the Barcelo Karmina Palace in Manzanillo. It was beautiful!

Out for dinner:

Michael loves his tacos!

One morning we went kayaking:

There were lots of pools to choose from, I think we tried every one! But, this was our favorite spot....

It was a waterfall that over looked the pools and the ocean. Michael sat there and then didn't move! He found his spot!

Dinner out on the cliff overlooking the whole bay:

Such a great trip!

New Years Weekend

For New Years eve, New Years day and Saturday, we went to the lake. We built a fire and played games, read books and did a puzzle. It was very nice and relaxing.
Since it was so warm out we went for a couple of walks, the boys played hockey and explored the igloos that were out on the ice.
It was lots of fun!
