Jakob's Birthday Parties

Jakob is now 9!! I can hardly believe that we have a nine year old. Time really does go by too quickly. We celebrated Jake's birthday for over a week! It started with his kids party, then Grandma & Grandpa arrived from Winnipeg, followed by a family party and then a little get together on his actual birthday.

This year Jakob picked a Super Mario theme for his parties. He also requested a trifle as his birthday cake (easy for me!) and I decorated with Mario & Mario Race car items.

One of my favorite things I made for the parties was a wreath for the front door using crepe paper. It was so cute and very easy to make. I made a little label on the bottom using My Digital Studio, that said "Happy Birthday Jakob".

Here are a few highlights from the parties:

On his actual birthday Jake wanted to have a hot dog and marshmallow roast. We had a great time with Oma & Opa, Grandma & Grandpa, Uncle Jordan, Auntie Kristy & Alex!

An ice cream cone with a candle was his birthday treat!

Happy Birthday Jakob! We love you and are so proud of you:)

2012 Artisan Award Winner Blog Hop - Project 10

It's the last of the Artisan Design Teams winning projects blog hop! Thanks for joining us from the wonderful Wendy Weixler. (If you started here, keep clicking the "next" button at the bottom of each post, you'll get back around to all the 10 blogs.)

I did not get a good picture of this page at all, so this picture is from the display board at convention.
This was probably the most time consuming of all my scrapbook pages. The background is a window sheet that I cut into a "label" like pattern, then stamped the circle stamp from Trendy Trees with white Stazon. I then added a border that I cut out of a 12x12 sheet of white card stock. I made a template out of a couple sheets of paper to get the outside border even all the way around. The rest of the circles are punched with various punches out of Designer Series paper or card stock and embossed.

Stamps: Trendy Trees
Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Old Olive & Daffodil Delight Card stock, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper
Ink: Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker, Stazon White Ink
Accessories & Tools: 2 1/2 Circle Punch, 1 3/4 Circle Punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, 1 1/4 Circle Punch, 1 Circle Punch, Clear Circle Bigz Die, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Billboard Sizzlits Strip Die, Window Sheet, Brights Designer Buttons, White Bakers Twine, Pumpkin Pie 1/4 Grosgrain Ribbon

2012 Artisan Award Winner Blog Hop - Project 9

It's day 9 of the Artisan Design Teams winning projects blog hop! Thanks for joining us from the ever inspiring Wendy Weixler. (If you started here, keep clicking the "next" button at the bottom of each post, you'll get back around to all the 10 blogs.)

The Friendly Phrases stamp set is one of my favorite "sayings" stamp sets. I love the swirly writing mixed with the straighter text. I had this idea for a picket fence, so I started with that and then went from there. The houses are made from Designer series paper and then the roof on each is embossed the same as the fence, using the stripes embossing folder. Cute buttons and the linen thread add some extra texture.

Stamps: Friendly Phrases
Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White Card stock, Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
Accessories & Tools: 1 1/4 Circle Punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Subtles Designer Buttons, Brights Designer Buttons, Linen Thread, Brights Brads, Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Again, I did not get the best picture of this project. I was so excited and in such a hurry to mail out my projects that I didn't take the greatest pictures :(
I spent the most time on this project! There were so many elements and pieces that brought this frame together. I absolutely love grey and yellow together, so when I envisioned this frame, I knew that was the color combo I was going to do. All of the tags are either stamped, embossed, sewn or embellished in some way.
This is one of those projects that I would love to hang up in my house!

2012 Artisan Design Team Projects for August - Part 1

I was so excited to receive my first box of Artisan Design Team goodies! The box was filled with 2012-2014 In Color paper, ribbon and other In Color products along with paper daises, 2 stamp sets and 2 Framelits collections. I tried my best to use all of the product that came in the box:)
My first project is for my son Jakob who turns 9 TODAY!! He is our wonderful, smart, creative, loving, kind, energetic, talented and of course cute, first born. We are so blessed to have this amazing boy in our lives. Happy Birthday Jakob!!

9 years old! 12x12 Scrapbook Page:
The border around the picture was done the same way as one of my artisan card entries. I cut strips of paper in a triangle and then pasted them around the paper, meeting all the pieces together in the middle. Its actually quite easy, once you figure out the pattern. The banner was cut using various papers and the Bitty Banners Framelits. I love the new framelits, they are so versatile and can be positioned on your paper perfectly!
The number 9 was done with My Digital Studio(MDS) and then I cut it out to put on the page. That is one (of the many) things I really like about MDS, anything I need, any size can be easily made and then printed. So great! I am so happy with this years In Colors, they are such great colors!!

Ink: Pool Party (126982), Midnight Muse (126860), Raspberry Ripple (126859), Gumball Green (126861), Summer Starfruit (126991) Midnight Muse Stampin' Write Marker (126856)

MDS: Simple Numbers Punch - Digital Download (127167)

Happy Birthday (4.2 x 5.5) Card:
My second card is also in the birthday theme for today! I made this card with Midnight Muse card stock with the Gumball Green Core'dinations card stock embossed on top. The Core'dinations card stock is so cool! I sanded the top of it and it produced this amazing lighter color and really soft texture. The flower is done by twisting the ribbon and placing it in a circle on the Jumbo Sticky Rounds.

Welcome to day 6 of the Artisan Design Teams winning projects blog hop. Thanks for joining us from the gorgeous work of Wendy Weixler. (If you started here, keep clicking the "next" button at the bottom of each post, you'll get back around to all the 10 blogs.)

I did not get the best picture of this scrapbook page :( Sorry.
It is hard to tell, but the background is Pool Party. I stamped the Delicate Doilies image and embossed it with silver embossing powder. I love the texture that embossing gives. The little strips on the side of the pictures is all different Designer Series paper in yellows and oranges. I'm not sure of you can read the writing on the bottom right, but the title is "The 3 of You... hold the key to me heart". The cute little key trinket fit perfectly with my title.

Stamps: Delicate Doilies
Paper: Pool Party & Whisper White Cardstock, Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper, Pocketful of Posies Designer Series Paper
Ink: Versamark Ink, Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker

2012 Artisan Award Winner Blog Hop - Project 5

Welcome to day 5 of the Artisan Design Teams winning projects blog hop. Thanks for joining us from the amazing Wendy Weixler. (If you started here, keep clicking the "next" button at the bottom of each post, you'll get back around to all the 10 blogs.)

For this card I wanted to do something that wasn't a traditional sized card. I love the look of a scalloped round card! The flowers and leaves are embossed as well as the 'happy birthday'. I then cut out each flower and leaf and layered them until I got the look I was going for. The middle of the flower is a glimmer brad as well as a little matching glitter! The white background is done with the striped embossing folder from the big shot.
I think the color combo is bright and cheerful, perfect for a birthday!

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Bring on the Cake
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive & Tangerine Cardstock
Ink: White Craft Ink, Versamark
Accessories: White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Clear Circle Bigz Die, Fine Supernova Glitter, Brights Glimmer Brads

2012 Artisan Award Winner Blog Hop - Project 4

Welcome to day 4 of the Artisan Design Teams winning projects blog hop. Thanks for joining us  from the amazing Wendy Weixler. (If you started here, keep clicking the "next" button at the bottom of each post, you'll get back around to all the 10 blogs.)

This pacifier is one of my favorite projects. Wouldn't it make the cutest gift for a baby?!

Inside the box I sewed a little pillow out of the Flirtatious Designer fabric. To make the pacifier, I peeled the adhesive off of each of the basic rhinestones and then glued them down again with a permanent non-toxic glue. The pillow held up the pacifier, so that it was visible and so that it wouldn't move around in the box. I then attached a label by wrapping the Flirtatious Designer Series paper completely around the little box.

Stamps: Short & Sweet
Paper: Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper,  Whisper White & Melon Mambo Cardstock
Ink: Melon Mambo Classic Ink
Accessories: Regal Rose 1/8 Taffeta Ribbon, Flirtatious Designer Fabric, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Basic Rhinestones

2012 Artisan Award Winner Blog Hop - Project 3

Welcome to the Artisan Design Teams winning projects blog hop. You should have come from the uber-talented Wendy Weixler. (If you started here, keep clicking the "next" button at the bottom of each post, you'll get back around to all the 10 blogs.)

This was my favorite card of all the 5 cards I submitted!
I sometimes find it hard to make boy/guy cards and having 3 boys, I need to make a lot of them!!
I cut the Designer Series paper into varying triangles and just started to glue them into a circle, it was a bit tricky, but leaving a bit of white space in between helped.  I then added the various sized circles for some depth and contrast.

Stamps: Extreme Elements Stamp Set, Grunge Rock Stamp Set
Paper: Calypso Coral, Island Indigo & Whisper White Cardstock, In Color Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Calypso Coral Classic Ink
Accessories: In Color Designer Prints Brads, Everyday Enchantment Brads, 5/16 Jumbo Brads,
1 3/4 Circle Punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, 1 1/4 Circle Punch, 1 Circle Punch, 3/4 Circle Punch
